Music is not
only a hobby - it is soul
From an early age, Meir's life has revolved around sound.
Already as a child, he absorbed every subtle note with instinctive curiosity and passion.
His parents nurtured this connection, placing him right next to live bands at celebrations
like weddings, allowing him to be bathed in melodies that stirred something
deep within.
More than 35 years ago, in the age of 18, Meir started to be an avid collector,
driven
by his deep passion for Israeli music.
His extensive archive - composed exclusively of Israeli records, CDs
and music books -
is a reflection of his unwavering commitment.

If given the opportunity, he’d spend every moment immersed in the nostalgic melodies
of Israeli music from the mid 60s - 70s.
Among his favorite singers are Yehoram Gaon, HaGevatron and HaParvarim.
In 2004, Meir appeared on
Israeli television in the show "Shooting & Singing" ("יורים ושרים"),
where he spoke about his passion for collecting and his extensive knowledge
of Israeli music, especially songs performed by Army
bands.

Though naturally reserved, Meir found the courage to break through his shyness, when
from 2009 to 2012 he co-hosted the weekly radio program "Nahtche in
Gimmel" ("נחצ'ה בגימל")
alongside the late renowned composer and Israeli Prize winner Nachum
(Nahtche) Heiman,
and could showcase his extensive expertise in nostalgic Israeli music.

His deep knowledge of the artists and songs from that golden era is truly
remarkable.
Our shared passion for this music
brought us in contact last year
- an encounter I’m deeply grateful for,
not only because he generously answered my many questions,
but because he helped me to connect even more deeply with the music I love.
Meir, always willing to help, also collaborated
with singer André Zweig to
digitize his vinyl recordings and transfer them to CD.
Some of them were later uploaded to Youtube by Dudi Patimer, see an example here.
For several years, Meir has been sharing beloved tracks from his personal
collection
with fellow enthusiasts of Israeli music on YouTube.

MEMORABLE...
Meir is a gentle soul - shy, yet incredibly kind. I was fortunate to
meet him in person,
and the time we spent together in April was nothing short of unforgettable.
We shared extraordinary moments filled with music
and other favorite
hobbies,
making it a truly unique experience I will always cherish.

By sharing this rare, unreleased song of my favorite singer, Esther Ofarim,
Meir has once again demonstrated his generosity and kindness.
Not only did he transcribe the Hebrew lyrics
by ear, but he also provided
an English translation for my website.

The
Glass is always half full
That’s Meir’s guiding philosophy. His
optimism shines through in every situation,
always accompanied by a warm smile. And on the rare occasion that he feels down,
he finds his comfort in music.
I came to know Meir as a person with a great sense of humor.
So it was no surprise for me that he even participated in "Shemesh",
a popular Israeli sitcom
that aired on Channel 2 and was produced by Teddy Productions between
1997 and 2004.
Watching movies
is another of Meir’s hobbies.
Over the years, his video- and DVD collection has grown tremendously.
But also beyond the walls of his home, he finds time to indulge in another
passion - Israeli folk dancing.
It beautifully complements his deep appreciation for nostalgic Israeli music.
He even contributes to instructional dance videos.

As time gently permits, Meir is constantly on the
lookout for rare and intriguing additions
to enrich his music
collection.
Several years ago, an Israeli newspaper published an article about it.
